Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I purchase ammunition?
There are many vendors for ammunition. If you desire to purchase 22 Long rifle, you can even purchase this at Wal-Mart. However, any other handgun ammunition will need to be purchased at Academy (I have found good prices here) or at your sporting goods store of choice.
What is your payment/ cancellation policy?
Payment is due through the online portal at the time of the reservation. Prices are listed in the booking calendar or our pricing page. We require 48 hours notice if you cannot attend a class and desire a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of the class, you can reschedule one time or receive a 50% refund. Refunds will not be issued in case of no call/no show.
What if I haven’t shot much can I still get a concealed handgun license?
If this is you, the best course for this situation is the “Basic Pistol” class.
In the basic class you will receive a thorough education on handguns, as well as the basics for pistol shooting. You will learn how to care for a pistol properly and get to practice all of these skills with a licensed professional.
While you can legally qualify IF you can successfully shoot the live fire course and meet the other requirements, the responsible, sure-fire approach is Basic Pistol.
Where do the lessons and qualifications take place?
The venue for the classes will vary depending on the date, availability of the venue, and type of course being taken. All will be held within a 20 minute drive of downtown Benton. After you register for a class on the “Booking Calendar” an email will be sent to you including all the information you will need for that specific event. The events are not officially scheduled until at least 5 students have registered. If fewer than 5 sign up for any event, that event will be rescheduled and any student will be given the option to come to the later class or receive a full refund. Many of the classes will take place at the rentable facilities in Tyndall park.
What should I bring?
Items that are required will vary with the course. After you sign up for a particular course an email will be sent to you containing all pertinent information. Any class that contains live fire portions will require that the student bring their own ammunition usually amounting to approx. 50 rounds.
Water, snacks, lunch, something to write on or with as well as your printed paperwork will also be generally required.
What if I don’t have a handgun?
You may bring your own properly functioning firearm, or use an available firearm.
Please notify us ahead of time, as you will be required to bring your own ammunition and will need to know which caliber to purchase.
